Red Trails in Monteriggioni 2012 - AC Brotherhood

Weird foot trails in Monteriggioni 2012
Assassin's creed series has always left us wondering with what the numerous open ends in the game would do to the story. One of those in the latest installment, Assassin's creed Brotherhood (on 21 May, 2011), is the long red trail that leads into the Mario's study in Monteriggioni 2012.

This trail appears right after the completion of memory sequence 2. A lot of talk has gone into what there trails could possibly be in various forums. I reckon there are only two logical explanations to it.

If we assume, that these trails have been added for purpose then, its got to be serious. As the trails appear only in eagle vision, it is most likely that they are trails of Templars.

Now there are two possibilities. Either we have got a mole on our team or its someone else from outside. We will take one at a time. If the Templar is a mole in the assassin team, its certainly not Lucy. Yes, you read it right, its not Lucy.

There are so many facts that make you think she is the black sheep, but there is something sold tprove Lucy is no Templar. In AC 1, Lucy enquirers about the death of her friend in Abstergo and gets rudely told off by Vidic. This shows she is not trusted at Abstergo. Also nothing other than the fact that she once worked as a double agent for assassins makes her the number one contender for being the mole.

The finger next points to Rebecca Crane. There is no way that she is a Templar, coz Abstergo will most certainly not have an Animus that inferior to the one used by assassins. The only remaining member is Shaun who does not have anything to prove he is not a Templar. The fact that he maintains the database makes him a perfect target, and also William discloses information much earlier to Shaun than others. So Abstergo will be pleased to have his services. May be those trails are that of Shaun's.

It seems interesting to have a black sheep, but I believe we dont have one. This, i say because the trails stop at the entrance of Mario's study. Which means, the enemy did not enter the sanctuary. It could be likely that someone followed Lucy or Shaun to the villa and then lost their target while entering the sanctuary.

Another possibility is there where we go for some thing fancy. If we note, the trail starts at the assassin crest in the villa wall where we have got hollow ground with bars. May be thats a Templar hideout keeping a tab on this assassin team. Though this sounds fancy, its quite likely.
Now Think. Why are Templars so silent and not closing in no one of their traitors and an escaped subject?
What if Templars have started thinking like assassins? Why should they take the pain of locating every POE and extradicting it, when Desmond and co would do it for free and they can snatch it from them??
Now this sound quite possible doesn't it?

The last thing that these trails could be is just a beacon for Desmond to get back to the sanctuary as the collectibles in modern Monteriggioni are available only from this sequence! Though it seems too be an anti-climax remember it is possible too and this is why Assassin's Creed rocks.

  1. But what if it has something to do with subject 16's warning and what he said at the end? "find me in the dark" also didnt a red trail lead us to him in the "video"?

  2. Hmmm.. Interesting =)
In that case the trails Desomnd should hallucinate those trails because Subject 16 never got out of Abstergo.

The bed room wall of Desmond's room in AC1 and AC2 says "I've entered the Abyss and never returned". With what we know should mean he wrote that before he put himself into the animus!

Also I think ubisoft confirmed that subject 16 is dead (I am not sure of it)

    1. It is Lucy. She was an assassin until she tried to break into abstergo. She was caught and her memory wiped, now she works for Vidic as a mole.

  3. That's possible. It has happened before on a different subject called Cross. Also, we meet Lucy outside the villa once. May be thats why Juno gets rid of her too!!

  4. It could be the location of the Shroud. The Shroud is located underground below the well; this could be the entrance to the tomb hiding it.

  5. That would come in handy if either Desmond stayed in Italy at the end of Assassins Creed Revelations. I wonder if the location has any significance at all. But the villa Auditore and its robustness call for a possible piece of Eden!!

  7. no in assasin creed revelations DL C it explains that Lucy is a templar! watch a vid on yt and my point will be proven! Also she was the only one outside, why did she have to go outside?

Juno also made Desmond kill her why, because she was a traitor. She once was an assasin and then she had to infriltrate abstergo. She then got lonely and turned to the templars, Vidic told her to befrined desmond and take him to a secret hideout with the other assasins. As lucy did this she was also looking for the POE to report back to vidic. Soz about my spelling please get back to me

  9. Youre all wrong. In an interveiw with the creators of the game, they stated that the trail was to lead you back to the entrance of the sancuary in case you got lost. Trust me, I was dissapointed as well that it didnt have any significance to story, especialy since I didnt find it until after reading the email from Rebecca about the unmarked van and began looking for it.

  10. anything but the red trail schemes here, subject 16 found out the plans about abstergo and lucy while his capture at the industries,16 was allowed to be abducted by abstergo industries on purpose because of the task given to him by William Miles(Desmond's Dad) to aquire the knowledge of the industries, his job was to access the personal computer of Alan Rikkin the CEO and uncover details about the secretive animus project..just for the sake that lucy who was already there as a mole in the Abstergo industries and when the time came she would help him evacuate,However, unbeknownst to the Assassins, Lucy's loyalties had already shifted. 16 who's real name was Clay KAczmarek was forced in prolonged sessions of the animus and he started showing symptoms like suffering from the "Bleeding Effect" found himself conversing with a figure calling herself Juno, who offered a shocking revelation about the true allegiances of his supposed ally, Lucy, as well as his own destiny..After a while, Lucy discovered that Clay knew the truth about her true intentions and attempted to explain her actions, saying that William and the rest of the Order cared little for the lives that they destroyed in the pursuit of their goals, whereas the Templars did. Knowing she could not sway him, Lucy stated that she would keep the promise she had made to protect Clay, hiding the evidence of his new-found knowledge from Vidic, but that she could no longer afford him to leave or escape....For weeks, Clay planned his suicide down to the most minute detail, biding his time and preparing his message, and when the time came he slit his own wrists and painted the room with his blood in which desmond was later kept(which can be clearly seen at the end of A.C. 1 or starting of A.C. 2) just 2 warn him not only about the future danger but about the black sheep in the assassins herd that was Lucy Stillman..Truth in A.C. 2 and the Miracle in Brotherhood were the messages by 16 warning desmond about the traitor..there was even an entire project named siren where and if desmond was to show the same symptoms and results as subject 16 did earlier then lucy would help him "escape" the lab and take him back to the Assassins, where he would feel safe. Throughout this, Lucy was also to keep Warren informed of their actions, and was to bring the Apple of Eden back to Abstergo as soon as the Assassins discovered it..
When they encountered Warren Vidic in the warehouse(ending of A.C. 2), he reminded Lucy that he had saved her life, before sending some Abstergo guards to try and incapacitate them. However, both Lucy and Desmond engaged in a fight with the guards, quickly defeating them. With little defense left, Warren climbed into the back of a truck, stating that the attack was only the beginning, before fleeing the hideout. As Desmond started to go after him, Lucy stopped him and said that they would eventually bring Warren to justice for what he had done, and that Abstergo would surely be back with reinforcements if they did not leave. Following this, Lucy and the others evacuated the hideout, though not before Lucy left behind several important updates on what they had discovered from Desmond, for Warren to find later on.

Eventually, Desmond and his allies located Ezio's Apple of Eden, hidden in the Colosseum Vault. It was here that Desmond met Juno for the first time, and where he was influenced into killing Lucy, despite her betrayal not yet having become apparent to her companions. As a result of this, Desmond slipped into a coma and was returned by William to the Animus to support his mental state.
